Dipstick Research Group (DRG) is a group of seven market research agencies based in the northeast of England. The founders needed a ‘group’ identity to pull the agency brands together and communicate the scope and scale of the whole company. They needed to create a corporate, grown-up and global brand that looked modern and cutting-edge.
Inspiration: We were inspired by research imagery; Venn diagrams and bubble charts as well as ‘global’ and planetary themes. The final concept uses seven circles representing the agencies in the ‘gravitational pull’ of the DRG brand. A sharp sans-serif font keeps things feeling modern and cutting-edge.
Colour: 95% of global companies use only one or two colours in their logos. For DRG we chose to use four (like Microsoft and Google). Three of the colours came from the existing DRG brands, the fourth – a navy – added gravitas to the ‘parent’ brand.
Collateral: We created 26-page brand guidelines, an image bank, data charts, business cards, a PowerPoint template, invitations, event branding, branded gifts and a slideshow for the DRG launch party, as well as a group website. More details on the full project in our blog.
Six years on, the DRG team are still loving their branding – and it does look as fresh as ever.
